When it became clear that Sue was running out of options as who to make her new Head Cheerio, Blaine Anderson, the little prep school boy that her sweet Porcelain had dragged along back to McKinley, stepped up to the plate and (after many trials) eventually proved himself merely adequate enough to hold the position. That he could sing and knew Italian was but a small perk.
Coincidentally, McKinley’s football team had lost its kicker of the season due to an unfortunate accident that broke his leg and Kurt Hummel was (after much begging and bribing from the Glee football players) asked to try out for the team. Needless to say, his kicking was still in top form.
Everyone knew they were dating. Thus, McKinley had a new power couple.
They just thought it was going to be the other way around.
